Manufacturing
Whether the product you manufacture is as small as a tablet or as large as structural steelwork, as delicate as a mushroom, or as precious as a coin, high speed like PET bottles or artisanal like hand-made chocolates or baked goods, Australis has the capabilities to design, manufacture and install a materials handling system to cater for your specific requirements. With over 28 years of experience supporting domestic and international manufacturers, our qualified and highly skilled engineers and tradespeople can solve the difficult problems you may be experiencing in handling your product effectively and efficiently.
What is Materials Handling?
For many businesses, materials handling refers to the trolleys, pallet jacks, racking and forklifts you use in day-to-day operations to move and store product in your facility. While these are important, it is not what Australis specialises in. Instead, Australis are experts in materials handling systems - such as conveyors, palletising and pallet handling equipment, packaging equipment, elevators, robotics, food manufacturing equipment and other special purpose, custom-built machinery. We also utilise complimentary technologies such as robotics, automation, PLCs and controls, safety systems and compressed air systems to value-add to all our materials handling solutions.
Difficult problems? Easy solutions!
Australis can design any materials handling solution to suit the specific requirements of your product, output requirements and budget. We specialise in designing and manufacturing specialist equipment that incorporates our standard designs or fully customised, one-off items for difficult problems you are encountering in handling your product. If you have a problem that other companies can't solve, ask us to help - hundreds of Manufacturers utilise Australis to help convey and handle their products. With a strong mechanical and automation engineering design team, our strength is our engineering intelligence.

Palletising experts
Do you need to palletise your products? Are you experiencing increased OHS problems from lifting and strain injuries, workers compensation claims or Lost Time to Injuries (LTIs)? Do you currently use two or more staff or use a single staff member over multiple shifts to achieve your palletising outcomes? If you answered yes to any of these questions then perhaps our low-cost Mini Palletiser is the solution you require. In most situations, the mini palletiser can achieve a return on investment in 12 to 18 months under single shift operation.
Australis are experts in designing, manufacturing and installing palletisers for the Manufacturing industry. Whether you require a high speed palletiser to suit your packaged cartons or bulk bags/ sacks, a customised pallet pick-up for an unusually shaped product, or an "off-the-shelf" - we can help you increase your output, reduce your operating costs by installing an automated palletiser. For further information on our palletising solutions go to our Palletiser page.
Mild Steel, Stainless Steel or Aluminium Profile?
Confused about the advantages and disadvantages of using different materials to fabricate the equipment provided by Australis? Let us guide you through to pros and cons of using Mild Steel, Stainless Steel or structural Aluminium Profile to fabricate your equipment.
- Mild Steel - cheaper material purchase cost, but normally requires painting/ powder coating which increases labour costs. Not suitable for wash down environments. Depending on use, may have a shorter lifespan than other options. Highly suitable to bulky, load bearing and structural applications.
- Stainless Steel - generally more expensive material cost, but requires no painting meaning reduced labour costs. In some applications the cost might be similar to mild steel. Ideal for wash down and where hygiene is important. In most applications has the longest lifespan. LowPro conveyors are very, very cost effective while maintaining the benefits of using stainless.
- Aluminium Profile - extremely versatile. Rapid fabrication possible. Structurally very strong and suitable for most applications including some wash down environments (not dairy). Material cost is higher than mild steel, but lower labour and fast turnaround times mean this is perhaps the most cost effective solution in many applications. Versatility means aluminium profile can be used for an enormous number of uses including all manner of conveyors, machine guards, safety fencing, solar panel installations, display stands, vehicle fit outs, exhibition stands, shelving and racking, work benches, cabinets, door frames, enclosures - really the list is endless.
